Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers about custom web design, working with us, and the music side of the studio.
Web Design & Development
Why don't you use WordPress for client websites?
We hand-code each website in PHP and JavaScript so it loads fast, stays secure, and gives you an admin panel that contains only what you actually need. WordPress is convenient for templated sites, but it depends on dozens of plugins that need constant updates, becomes a growing security risk over time, and slows down as you add features. Custom code delivers faster load times, fewer maintenance headaches, and a system that grows with your business instead of fighting against it.
How much does a custom website cost?
Pricing depends on the scope and complexity of your project. A small custom-coded informational site for a local business is very different from a full e-commerce store or a custom business management application. After a free initial consultation, we send you a clear written estimate with no surprise charges, and payment is split across project milestones rather than collected upfront. Contact us with a brief description of what you need and we'll give you a realistic range within a day or two.
How long does it take to build a website?
Most small business websites take 3 to 6 weeks from kickoff to launch, depending mainly on how quickly we receive content (text, images, brand assets) from you. Larger web applications and e-commerce projects typically take 8 to 16 weeks. We share progress at every milestone so you always know where things stand and can request adjustments along the way.
What technologies do you use?
Our stack is PHP (Symfony framework), JavaScript, MySQL, HTML, and CSS (Tailwind), deployed on Linux servers with Nginx. We do not use WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, or any other templated CMS. Every line of code is written specifically for your project, which is why our sites load faster and stay secure longer than the templated alternatives.
Can you take over an existing WordPress site?
Yes. We don't continue maintaining WordPress long-term, but we can either keep your existing site online while we build a custom replacement, or migrate your content and design into a hand-coded site that's faster, more secure, and easier to maintain. Most of our clients who came from WordPress wish they had switched sooner.
Do you build online stores (e-commerce)?
Yes. We build custom online stores with exactly the features your business needs, not the dozens of features you'll never use that Shopify or WooCommerce bundle in by default. Custom carts, inventory management, order workflows, and payment integration with Stripe, PayPal, OXXO Pay, MercadoPago, and others are all part of what we deliver.
Do you provide hosting?
Yes. We host our clients' sites on our own Linux servers with 99.9% uptime, daily backups, free SSL certificates, and ongoing security updates. Hosting is included with your monthly maintenance plan rather than a separate add-on, and you keep full ownership of your code and data.

Music — Miguel Vallarta
Are you also a musician?
Yes. Miguel Garcia, the founder of Garcia Web Design, also publishes original Latin pop music under the artist name Miguel Vallarta (formerly Miguel Garcia Vallarta). The music side is separate from the web design business, but both are run by the same person from the same studio in Puerto Vallarta.
Where can I listen to Miguel Vallarta's music?
Miguel Vallarta's music is on all major streaming platforms: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and Tidal. Music videos are on YouTube at @miguelvallartamusic. You can also explore songs, lyrics, and album info directly on the Music page of this site.
Why did the artist name change from Miguel Garcia Vallarta to Miguel Vallarta?
The original stage name was Miguel Garcia Vallarta. It was shortened to Miguel Vallarta to be easier to remember and easier to find across streaming platforms. Both names refer to the same artist, and all songs are written and composed under the legal name Miguel Angel Garcia Salgado.
